Teen dies from injuries after crash with semi near Grand Island

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A teen injured in a crash with a semitrailer near Grand Island has died, the Hall County Sheriff’s Office said Friday.
The crash happened around 8 a.m. Thursday at the intersection of Highway 30 and Capital Avenue.
A pickup truck, driven by 17-year-old girl Opal Wylie, turned onto Highway 30 when it was struck by an eastbound semi.
Wylie and a passenger, 81-year-old Roberta Tipton, were taken to a Grand Island hospital. Both were later pronounced dead.
The driver of the semi, a 71-year-old Marquette man, was also injured and taken to a hospital. The sheriff’s office said he wasn’t wearing a seat belt.
An investigation is ongoing.
