LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A teen driving a tractor was hospitalized Monday after a crash in rural Stanton County, the sheriff’s office says.

The crash happened around 10 a.m. on Highway 275, about two miles east of Norfolk.

A tractor pulling a trailer was hit from behind by an SUV, according to the sheriff’s office.

The collision caused the 15-year-old tractor driver to be ejected from the vehicle.

The teen was taken to a hospital in Norfolk.  A woman and her daughter, who were in the SUV, were also driven to the hospital.

The extent of their injuries is unknown.

The sheriff’s office said the tractor was “split in half,” and the trailer ended up in a ditch about 25 yards from where the crash happened.

Both vehicles were totaled.

“It is miraculous that the tractor driver was not more seriously injured or killed in the collision,” Sheriff Mike Unger said in a statement.
