Teen inmates caught with stolen vehicle after pursuit, state patrol says

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The three teenagers who escaped from the Youth Rehabilitation and Treatment Center in Lincoln were caught Friday night.
The Lincoln Police Department responded to reports of three youths who escaped from the facility at 7 p.m.
According to law enforcement, multiple agencies searched the area, but did not find the teens.
Officials said LPD learned that a vehicle had been stolen in the area.
At 10:30 p.m., a trooper located the stolen vehicle driving on Interstate 680 in Omaha, according to the state patrol.
The trooper attempted a traffic stop, but the teens refused to pull over.
The juveniles ran a red light and fled.
The Omaha Police Department’s helicopter was already overhead and took the pursuit over from the air.
The state patrol said pilots tracked the vehicle to the area of 31st and Curtis streets, where the teens fled on foot.
Two of the juveniles were taken into custody without incident, according to police.
Officials said the third was tracked down by an OPD K9.
That teen was treated for minor injuries and all three were lodged in the Douglas County Youth Center on multiple charges, according to the state patrol.
