Teen released from hospital, arrested in Lincoln shooting

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A 15-year-old Lincoln boy was arrested Friday after recovering from a shooting.

The teen was released from the hospital and taken to the juvenile detention center.

He faces five charges: robbery, first-degree assault, possession of a stolen firearm, unlawful possession of a handgun and use of a firearm to commit a felony.

The shooting happened during a robbery about 5:30 a.m. June 13 near 11th and Hill streets, according to the Lincoln Police Department.

Police said the 15-year-old pointed a gun at a 14-year-old boy, demanding that he give him everything.

But the 14-year-old was also armed, according to police, and the two shot each other.

Earlier this week, the 14-year-old was referred to juvenile court on suspicion of possession of a stolen firearm and unlawful possession of a handgun.

Police said a friend of the 15-year-old, who is also 15, gave him the gun used in the robbery.

He was arrested on suspicion of robbery, possession of a stolen firearm and unlawful possession of a handgun.
