Teen sentenced for breaking out of detention center in Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A teenager who escaped from detention in Lincoln was sentenced Tuesday to several years behind bars.
The 16-year-old boy got 26 to 31 years in prison for escape, attempted assault, felony theft and misdemeanor theft.
With credit for time served, he could be eligible for parole in less than 13 years.
Channel 8 is not naming the teen because he is still a minor.
Court documents say about 7 p.m. on June 14, he and two other teens got out of the Youth Rehabilitation and Treatment Center.
The 16-year-old, who was 15 at the time, broke a window by hitting it with a metal pole and a couch, according to an arrest affidavit.
He then peeled the glass apart, and the three teens climbed through the window and escaped.

Nebraska state troopers arrested them later that night after a chase.
The 16-year-old was previously convicted of second-degree murder in juvenile court.
One of the other teens, 18-year-old Jayden Little, was sentenced to 15½ to 25½ years in prison for the escape.
The third teen, a 17-year-old, is due back in court Feb. 12.
