Teens caught after stealing Kia in north Lincoln, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A pair of teens were caught Tuesday after stealing a Kia in north Lincoln, police say.
Around 7:45 a.m., officers were sent to a home near Portia and Knox streets after a Kia Optima was stolen overnight.
Later that night, investigators found the vehicle unoccupied near North 15th Street and Hilltop Road, about 1.5 miles away from where it was stolen.
Police said officers spotted a 15-year-old boy and a 14-year-old boy get into the vehicle wearing gloves and masks.
Investigators approached the teens, who ran away. Officers eventually caught up and took them into custody.
The 15-year-old boy was referred on suspicion of felony theft.
The 14-year-old boy was referred on suspicion of failing to comply with a lawful order.
