Temperatures a lot warmer this upcoming week

We continued to transition into a warmer weather pattern on Sunday, with highs reaching the upper-50s in Lincoln. Like Saturday, we also saw an overabundance of sunshine.

An upper-level low will be approaching overnight and into Monday morning. This will bring a few mid to high-level clouds along with it. While the majority of the overnight stretch Sunday going into Monday should be mostly clear, I do anticipate some morning clouds on Monday. We’re looking for a low near 22° in Lincoln.

Sunday Night Forecast

This wave of cloudiness will be departing at some point during the day on Monday. How warm temperatures get is in part a function of how early these clouds depart. We should get into the middle-60s on Monday afternoon, and if we can get a bit more sunshine, highs may reach the upper-60s for some.

Monday Forecast

Temperatures turn even warmer for Tuesday and Wednesday. High will rise into the 70s, marking the first 70° days for 2022 in Lincoln.

Tuesday is the beginning of March, and that kicks off meteorological spring. The sun angle will progressively get higher and higher over the next several months, resulting in average highs increasing rather quickly. Average highs start in the middle-40s on March 1st but rise to the low-80s by the end of meteorological spring.

Meteorological Spring Average Highs

Temperatures remain well above average through the end of the workweek. However, several disturbances will approach/arrive. While it is still too early to discuss specifics, we do know that these disturbances will drop temperatures and increase precipitation chances going into the weekend. Stay tuned for any changes!
