On April 12, deputies responded to a crash in the area of Highway 30 and County Road 5 near North Bend.

When they got there, they found 24-year-old Billie Meadows covered in blood in a nearby field.

According to the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office, Meadows died at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha from gunshot wounds.

Authorities said at the same time Jeselink killed Meadows, he also deliberately tortured a puppy.

“These are deeply disturbing allegations involving the unlawful taking of a human life and the cruel treatment of an animal,” Dodge County Attorney Pam Hopkins said in a press release. “Our office is committed to ensuring justice is pursued thoroughly and fairly in accordance with Nebraska law.”
