UPDATE: Performers face citations for fire show that led to evacuation at Bourbon Theatre

Officials say a group of performers could be cited after started a fire at a Lincoln music venue, forcing hundreds of people to evacuate.

Around 700 people were sent scrambling from the Bourbon Theatre, near 14th and O Street, around 10 p.m. Thursday.

Officials say the group, Fire Dancing, spilled kerosine during a performance.

The kerosine ignited, causing a sprinkler head to go off.

Lincoln Police were called to the scene to help with crowd control as fire fighters put out the flames.

Officials say no one was injured in the chaos.

Fire investigators estimate the fire caused $1,000 in damage.

While pyrotechnics are allowed in shows, performers must obtain a permit and the event must be approved by a fire inspector.

LFR officials say the group applied for a permit and was denied, but opted to use the pyrotechnics anyway.

Officials say the performers disappeared after the incident, though the intent is to find them and cite them.

Fire officials say the Bourbon will not be cited.
