The Karen Society of Nebraska celebrated their 2758 New Year

The Karen society of Nebraska hosted a new years party for the people of Karen from all of the state.
“Very excited to see everyone here because this is really to get everyone together like this because everybody is working everyone has a job taking care of the family to host an event like this is really hard,” Poe Dee of the Karen Society of Nebraska said.
The Karen is a group of refugees originally from Burma, but because of a civil war, they had to take refuge in Thailand.
After the United Nations opened the doors to the United States some Karen people made their way to the United States of America.
They are celebrating the year 2758 because the group was actually found in late 700 b.c.
While they are extremely thankful for being together on their new year’s holiday they are also thankful for the people around them.
“It’s a sign of unity and a sign of brotherly hood, you know it’s important to come together as a community to show our appreciation to the country, to the government, and to the local authority that support host and help us live in this country,” Saw Clay the Chairmen of Karen Society of Nebraska said.
