Third Google data center in Nebraska to be built north of Lincoln
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A plot of land north of Lincoln will be home to a new Google data center, officials announced Tuesday.
The company’s third data center in Nebraska will be located on the northwest corner of the 56th Street and Interstate 80 interchange.
Data centers help power services like Google Cloud, Workspace, Google Maps and the search engine, according to a press release.
Officials made the announcement at Google’s Papillion campus with Rep. Mike Flood, Sen. Deb Fischer and Lincoln Mayor Leirion Gaylor Biard.
Google said Lincoln’s data center shows its continued investment in Nebraska.
“Google’s decision to locate in Lincoln is a result of the strong business climate we have built through community partnerships and investments in infrastructure and workforce development,” Gaylor Baird said in the release. “I look forward to welcoming them to our community and continuing a strong partnership as we bring more innovation and economic growth to Lincoln.”
