Thousands report Facebook and Instagram outages

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Meta’s social media websites stopped working for tens of thousands of users on Wednesday.
The outage began around noon, according to the website Downdetector.
Facebook outage reports peaked at more than 100,000.
There was also an outage on Instagram, with more than 70,000 users reporting outages around noon.
Problems were also reported on Facebook Messenger and Whatsapp.
Meta said on X that it is aware of the problem is “working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible.”
About 6 p.m., the company said the outage was mostly fixed.
