Three dogs rescued in eastern Nebraska house fire

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Several fire crews battled a blaze at a home in Plattsmouth early Tuesday morning.

The Plattsmouth Volunteer Fire Department was sent to the home near Seventh Street and A Avenue around 6:30 a.m.

When crews arrived, they found the fire coming from the kitchen.

Firefighters were able to contain the blaze to the kitchen, but smoke damage was “extensive” throughout the home, officials said.

Three dogs were rescued from the home and taken to a local hospital for treatment.  Officials said the dogs “have a good outlook for recovery.”

Officials said fire departments from Murray and Offutt Air Force Base were also called in to help extinguish the flames.

The cause of the fire is unknown, and an investigator from the State Fire Marshal Agency is on the scene.
