Three Huskers Honored With Weekly Big Ten Volleyball Awards 1

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Nebraska volleyball team collected three Big Ten weekly awards on Monday.

Andi Jackson was named co-Big Ten Player of the week, Bergen Reilly earned Big Ten Setter of the Week and Laney Choboy was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week.

Jackson was ultra-efficient in Nebraska’s sweeps over Illinois and No. 22 Minnesota last week.

She led all Division I players with a .733% hitting percentage, finishing the week with 4.00 kills per set, the most by a Big Ten middle blocker.

Jackson had a perfect game against Illinois, racking up nine kills on nine total attacks.

She followed that performance with a season-high 15 kills on .619 hitting against the Gophers.

Before her first hitting error of the week in the second set against Minnesota, Jackson had killed on 14 consecutive swings.

Reilly continued to improve her already strong resume with a league-leading 12.33 assists per set and a .458% combined hitting percentage in Nebraska’s sweeps.

In addition, Reilly averaged 2.17 digs and 1.00 blocks per set.

Behind Reilly’s setting, the Big Red had a .488% hitting percentage against Illinois and a .434% hitting percentage at Minnesota.

That extends their streak of hitting over .300 to 15 straight matches.

Nebraska’s .488 performance against the Fighting Illini was its best since 2018. Reilly had 29 assists, seven digs, five blocks, one kill and one ace.

She followed on Saturday with 45 assists, six digs, three kills, one block and one ace. Her 45 assists were a career high in a three-set match.

Choboy averaged 5.83 digs per set. She had a career-high 20 digs along with two aces and three set assists in the Huskers’ win against Illinois, in which they held the Fighting Illini to a .095% hitting percentage.

In Minnesota, Choboy logged 15 digs with three more set assists.

Jackson earned her first-ever Big Ten Player of the Week honor after previously earning two defensive awards.

Reilly was honored for the second straight week, the fourth time this season and 13th time in her career.

This marks Choboy’s first-ever weekly Big Ten honor.
