Three killed in crash with semi on rural western Nebraska highway

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Three people were killed Tuesday in a crash with a semi in rural Box Butte County.

The Nebraska State Patrol said the crash happened around 9:45 a.m. on Highway 2, several miles east of Alliance.

A westbound Subaru Outback crossed the center line and hit the semi, the patrol said.

The occupants of the Subaru – Julie Sears, 57; Joan Sears, 79; and Gary Sears, 82 – were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the semi, a 37-year-old Spencer man, was treated for minor injuries.

An investigation is ongoing.
