Three Lincoln Public Schools principals announce plans to retire, change careers

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – One principal is retiring and two others are moving on to different careers at the end of the school year.
Administrators who plan to retire or change positions at the end of the school year announced their intentions in January, the district said in a press release Tuesday.
Northeast High School Principal Keri Applebee is retiring after over three decades in education.
She became Northeast’s principal in 2018 after serving as an associate principal at Southwest High School from 2006 to 2018.
David Koenig, the principal at Holmes Elementary School, is pursuing another career opportunity, the district said.
He took the role in 2022 after a stint as Pershing Elementary School’s assistant principal.
Lefler Middle School Principal Allison Meister, who began the role in 2o22, is also leaving to pursue other career opportunities.
She previously served as an associate principal and special education coordinator at Goodrich Middle School.
“Lincoln Public Schools congratulates the following principals on their upcoming retirements and career changes, effective June 30, 2025, and thank them for their years of dedicated service to our students and families,” the district said in a press release.
