Three minors caught after escaping juvenile facility in Kearney

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Three minors absconded Wednesday from a juvenile facility in Kearney, state officials say.

They escaped around 8:30 a.m. from the Youth Rehabilitation Treatment Center.

Facility staff, the Kearney Police Department, the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office and the Nebraska State Patrol started searching for the missing youths.

The minors were “quickly” found and brought back to the facility, the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services said.

“Staff followed all abscond procedures which resulted in a quick apprehension ensuring the safety of the youth involved,” officials said in a press release.
