Three teens caught driving stolen vehicle in west Lincoln, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Three teens stole a vehicle and ran from officers Friday night in west Lincoln, police say.
Around 10:15 p.m., officers were sent to a home near Southwest 26th Street and West Apricot Lane on a report of a stolen vehicle.
Surveillance video showed three people checking the door handles of the vehicles parked in a driveway, according to LPD.
Some cash and “several” personal belongings, worth over $600, were stolen from an unlocked pickup truck.
Police said the trio got into a Jeep Grand Cherokee, which was unlocked with its keys inside, and drove off.
Shortly after, an officer saw the vehicle near 24th and West A streets, about a half mile away, police said.
The officer initiated a traffic stop, and the three people inside the vehicle ran away.
Police said officers set up a perimeter and found the three suspects — a 14-year-old girl, a 15-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy — and took them into custody.
The three teens were lodged in the Youth County Services Center on suspicion of felony theft.
