Thursday morning showers; Warmer and humid for the weekend

Showers are moving through southeast Nebraska Thursday morning.  An embedded rumble of thunder could also occur, although the best chance for a thunderstorm is near Omaha in to southwest Iowa.

I am keeping a chance for a shower in the forecast through Noon.  Afterwards, skies should begin to brighten as skies turn partly cloudy.  Temperatures should be able to climb in to the upper 80°s to near 90°.

We will have another chance for an isolated shower and/or thunderstorm Friday as a warm front lifts in to the area.  It looks like the best chance for raindrops will be during the morning, although I will keep a chance throughout the day.  High school football games should not have any issues Friday evening.

The air mass over eastern Nebraska will begin to modify behind the warm front.  More humid air will begin to infiltrate the region, sending dew point temperatures in to the upper 60°s to 70° Saturday and Sunday.  Winds will also increase Saturday.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible through the day Saturday and Sunday morning.  There will be many dry hours Saturday.  Sunday afternoon will be dry as clouds decrease turning the sky partly cloudy.

Temperatures should top out around 90° Saturday and Sunday – around 5° warmer than normal.  This should give us at least 52 days reaching 90° in Lincoln for the year.  That is 16 days ahead of the 30 year normal to date.
