Thursday night kicks off women’s pro bowling event in Lincoln

Sun Valley Lanes held a special event Thursday night.
The Professional Women’s Bowling Association is in Lincoln this weekend as part of its annual tour.
The capital city is the third stop in a 14-week-long event.
“I love the aspect of competing,” bowler Shannon O’Keefe said. “I love the feeling of throwing an incredible shot to beat somebody else, there is just nothing like that!”
Coming off a title victory last week, O’Keefe looks to repeat this weekend. That would make it ten titles for her career.
There was an open practice Thursday night, where all of the competitors had an hour and a half to get a feel for the lanes.
One of the newest rookies had more fun than some of the others.
“I was on the same practice pair as Liz Johnson,” rookie bowler Julia Bond said. “It was just so unbelievable to be standing next to her. It was just awesome.”
Bond is one of 20 Husker alum members competing this weekend at Sun Valley Lanes.
Some of the other bowlers are from places like Australia and Malaysia.
