Toasty temperatures stay with isolated storm chances

Yesterday with toasty temperatures in the lower and middle 90s, Lincoln saw its fifth day of the year get to 90 or above.

We’ll continue to add to that count in the coming days, hovering right around the 90-degree mark for a while yet.

Lincoln Today Hour By Hour

As temperatures climb to the 80s by the late morning hours, there will be some humidity lurking in the background to make afternoon conditions feel toasty once again.

Lincoln Today Hbh Dew Point

Similar to Wednesday, there will be a southerly breezy to help some at times.

Lincoln Today Wind Gusts

As the stationary front from yesterday transitions to more of a cold front through western and central Nebraska, some scattered storms are expected to develop this evening. Here’s the latest timing from Stormcast in how Thursday evening plays out:

A Slight (Level 2 of 5) risk has been issued by the Storm Prediction Center through the Sandhills for Thursday evening. Not everyone will see storms, but those that do could see a stronger storm with some gusty winds and hail. Most storms though will be weaking not long after the sun goes down tonight.

Spc Update

We’ll be around 90° again Friday with less wind, a lot of this forecast feeling the same for each day going forward.

Next 2 Days

On brand for the College World Series, it’ll be quite warm in Omaha. Some isolated storms will be possible Saturday and Sunday (Father’s Day), with that forecast really looking rinse and repeat as well.

College World Series 3day

Friday though in western Nebraska, there is higher confidence in all severe hazards being on the table with storms that afternoon and evening. A Slight (Level 2 of 5) risk is in place as an isolated tornado, hail and damaging wind will all be possible.

Again by Saturday, not everyone will see severe weather or even storms.

Spc Saturday

There is a large area of the state included within a Marginal (Level 1 of 5) risk in which some of the area could see up to 60 mph winds and quarter-size hail with the strongest storms that get going by the second part of the day.
