Toasty this Thursday, Friday before rain moves in this weekend
Quick downpour very early Thursday morning came in at just under a tenth of an inch from rain observed at the Lincoln Airport. We’ve cleared out since though, and plenty of sunshine will stick around for the rest of the day.
The afternoons Thursday and Friday look hot and somewhat humid with temperatures in the lower 90s. Average highs now drop to the upper 70s, so we’ll be way above that.
Many high school football games have been moved up to Thursday evening because of the Husker football game Friday night.
Channel 8’s Game of the Week tonight will feature Lincoln Southwest and Lincoln East at 8 p.m. under the lights. A hot afternoon will translate to a warm evening for that game and other area games tonight.
We should be dry for almost the entire day Friday, too. That’ll mean most of the Husker game will be rain free as well, with scattered storm chances increasing as the game is ending – if not later.
And we won’t see rain all of Saturday either. On and off chances from the morning will turn more certain toward Saturday evening. Most of the rain should fall in the window from then on through the day Sunday. Temperatures will only top out in the 60s on Sunday!
After all this rain has moved out, we should be left with widespread amounts around 1″ if not more across southeast Nebraska by Monday morning.
For the first full week of fall next week, it’ll feel much better as temperatures stay right around the 70s.
