LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Lincoln City Councilman Tom Beckius announced his reelection bid Tuesday.

The 44-year-old will be seeking a second term on the council.

“I’m proud of the work we have accomplished and want to continue working to get things done for our residents,” Beckius said in a press release. “In my second term, I’ll continue to work to keep families safe, address affordability of housing and ensure tax dollars are used effectively and efficiently.”

Beckius is one of the council’s at-large members. He is a Democrat on the officially nonpartisan council.

He said public safety is his top priority and touted the growth of the Lincoln Police Department and Lincoln Fire & Rescue in his term.

The city primary is April 8. The top two finishers in each race will advance to the general election on May 6.
