Tornado tears through half a mile of Nebraska, destroying a building

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The storm that slammed Lincoln with strong wind and rain on Wednesday did a lot more damage north of the city.

According to the National Weather Service in Omaha, an EF-1 tornado was confirmed in Cuming County.

Officials say it came down near Bancroft around 5:20 a.m. and traveled about half a mile.

The tornado had a width of 90 yards and was only on the ground for a couple of minutes.

It destroyed an outbuilding, dented a grain bin, snapped trees, damaged sheds and knocked over a semitrailer.

The twister packed a peak wind estimate of about 100 mph.

The weather service also confirmed an EF-2 tornado near Logan, Iowa, about 35 miles northeast of Omaha, less than an hour later.
