High winds didn’t help as Lincoln firefighters fought a blaze at a town house complex Wednesday night.

The blaze near Seventh and Benton Streets started on a fence and spread quickly, damaging at least two units, according to Lincoln Fire & Rescue Battalion Chief Mark Majors.

The fire was reported about 9 p.m., and a Channel 8 reporter on the scene said flames were still visible a half-hour later.

Five firefighters were on the roof, and several Lincoln Fire & Rescue engines were there.

Exterior damage to the building was visible.

Majors said some pets were injured in the blaze.

He credited a quick response from LFR for limiting the damage.
