Toxic spill closes Interstate 80 for several hours in western Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A segment of Interstate 80 remains closed after several hours of cleanup near North Platte.

The Nebraska State Patrol says a crash caused a leak of hazardous materials between North Platte and Brady.

Hazmat teams were called to help.

Troopers say the spill isn’t a danger to the public, but they say it will take some time for it to be cleaned up.

The closure began sometime before 4 p.m. on Thursday.

As of 10 p.m., that 20-mile stretch of the interstate remained closed.
