Trend to warmer days starts Tuesday

Tuesday starts our trek to warmer temperatures especially by the middle of this week. Cloud cover will clear toward the afternoon today, with temperatures creeping toward 90°.

Dew point temperatures will also creep up higher than yesterday, nearing 60°.

But the warmest of the week now looks to be Wednesday, nearing the upper 90s. This will likely be the day the Tri-Cities area also sees 90° for the first time this year.

Wed Dma High

The humidity will cause the heat index to near 100° in terms of what it feels like outside on Wednesday.

Wed Dma Heat Index

This heat is not expected to be overly oppressive, but these will be the warmest days we’ve faced yet this year.

That humidity and the heat will get somewhat washed away with a cold front that now looks to come earlier in the day on Thursday, cutting off what could have been another very hot day.

Storm chances through the end of the week also are not all that impressive. Storm coverage on Wednesday looks to be overall spotty with better chances in northeast Nebraska.

We are included in a Marginal (Level 1 of 5) risk by then, but again, storm development is expected to be quite limited over that area.

Wed Spc

On Thursday, we also may be lucky enough to miss out on most of the storms developing into the afternoon and evening. The latest update from the Storm Prediction Center as of Tuesday morning takes the higher severe risk south and east of our area.

Thu Spc

It would be nice to get some precipitation, but it would also be nice to miss out on the severe weather through the end of the week.
