Trespassers taking late-night swims at Lincoln pool, neighbors say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Some Woods Park neighbors are raising concerns over people trespassing at their community pool.

One woman who lives across from Woods Pool said she’s seen multiple groups there after it’s closed.

“They were going up the towers and going off the boards,” Janet Sievert said. “I called the non-emergency number because that’s a great way to just get hurt.”

City pools are open seven days a week from 1 to 6 p.m.

But Sievert said people jump over the fence after it gets dark.

Other neighbors told Channel 8 that these illegal pool parties have been happening for years.

The City of Lincoln said in an email its aware of this ongoing problem.

“There has been no vandalism at Woods Pool, but the city is aware of incidents of trespassing at night,” the email said.

The city is encouraging those who see anyone trespassing after hours at a city pool to contact the Lincoln Police Department.
