LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Nebraska basketball’s Pryce Sandfort, Rienk Mast and Fred Hoiberg were honored by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC).


On Tuesday, the NABC announced its All-District teams, naming Sandfort to the Central District First team.

Sandfort was one of 10 players to be honored, averaging 17.8 points and 4.9 rebounds per game.

The junior from Waukee, Iowa, set a school record with 113 3-pointers and has racked up at least 20 points in 12 games, including three 30-point efforts.

Mast was named to the Central District Second Team, averaging 13.5 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game, ranking in the top three in all three categories for Nebraska.

The senior from the Netherlands has tallied 22 double-figure efforts, including five games of at least 20 points.

This is the third time Mast has earned NABC honors in his career, with the others coming in 2022 and 2023 when he was at Bradley.

Hoiberg was named the Central District Coach of the Year after guiding Nebraska to one of its best seasons in program history.

Nebraska enters the NCAA Tournament with a 26-6 record and finished second in the Big Ten Conference with a 15-5 record.

This season, NU has set or tied school records in wins (26), conference wins (15) and conference road wins (seven).

The Huskers also started the season 20-0 as part of a 24-game winning streak dating back to last season.

The All-District honors were voted on by NACB-member coaches across NCAA Division I. The Central District includes programs from Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, Nebraska and Tennessee.
