Trooper injured in Omaha crash; third time in two weeks a cruiser has been hit

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A Nebraska State Patrol cruiser has been hit by another vehicle for the third time in less than two weeks.
A trooper was injured Monday night when their cruiser was struck on Interstate 80 in Omaha, the patrol says.
About 8:30 p.m., troopers were blocking a lane on I-80 near 50th Street while Omaha Police responded to a crash.
The patrol said a cruiser was parked with its emergency lights on when it was hit by a box truck.
The trooper inside was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, the patrol said.
Omaha Police will investigate the crash, which came just one day after a cruiser was hit near Paxton in western Nebraska. No troopers were injured in that crash.
Earlier this month, a trooper “narrowly escaped” injury in a crash near Ogallala.
All the crashes happened while troopers were responding to a previous crash.
