Troopers catch three dozen speeders in three hours on I-80 west of Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Nebraska State Patrol says it pulled over dozens of drivers Wednesday in a construction zone west of Lincoln.

In a three-hour period, troopers stopped 36 drivers for speeding in a construction zone on Interstate 80, where the speed limit is 55 mph.

One vehicle was going 80 mph, according to the patrol.

Troopers were conducting a special enforcement effort, but the patrol said traffic will be closely monitored for the rest of the project.

“Whether it’s in this work zone or any other across Nebraska, follow the posted speed limit, pay attention to the road, and help ensure that these crews can perform their jobs safely,” Col. Bryan Waugh, superintendent of the state patrol, said in a press release.
