Troopers seize stolen guns, MDMA on I-80 in western Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The smell of marijuana led state troopers to two stolen guns and drugs in a vehicle on Interstate 80 in western Nebraska.
Around 6:50 a.m. Mountain time, a trooper pulled over a Nissan Versa for speeding near Lodgepole, which is west of Ogallala.
When the trooper approached the vehicle, he smelled marijuana coming from inside, according to the patrol.
The driver, 27-year-old Deontre Harris, also had a suspended license, the patrol said.
Troopers then began a search of the vehicle and found four handguns, a rifle, suspected MDMA pills and a small amount of marijuana.
Two of the handguns were reported stolen, the patrol said.
Troopers then arrested Harris and two passengers, 21-year-old Linford Garrett and 60-year-old Leonard Killebrew.
Harris and Garrett are from Missouri, while Killebrew resides in California.
The patrol said all three were charged with possession of a firearm during a drug violation, possession of a weapon during the commission of a felony, possession of marijuana and possession of drug-related items.
Harris and Garrett were charged with possession of amphetamines and theft by receiving stolen property.
