Vehicle parked at Lincoln recreation center damaged in suspected arson, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Police are searching for a man who sparked a pickup truck fire Sunday in Lincoln.

Around 6:50 p.m., officers were sent to the F Street Rec Center near 13th and F streets on a report of a vehicle fire.

A Nissan Frontier, worth around $7,000, was parked at the recreation center and had “major fire damage,” according to police.

A witness told officers that a man asked for a lighter, lit a piece of paper on fire and threw it into the back of the pickup.

The man then left the area.

Police said they are investigating the case as an arson based on evidence found at the scene.
