A routine Sunday morning turned into anything but after a rural Lincoln family discovered their truck was missing from their driveway near 98th and Adams.

The owners said it happened just after 7:00 a.m. Sunday, and while they slept through it, they caught it all on camera.

It’s a 2013 white Ford pick-up. The license plate is VXC 999. The owner said the truck is worth nearly $30,000.

They weren’t able to go on camera, but Monday morning Lancaster County Sheriff Terry Wagner asked for your help finding it.

“We are still looking for that truck and the people that stole it,” Wagner said.

Because the people that stole it may be tied to three other crimes they’re investigating.

Wagner said keys were stolen from the ignition of a truck that was left unlocked in a driveway near 98th and Holdrege.

Earlier Sunday the Sheriff’s Office also got a report from a home Northeast of Waverly at 162nd and Davey Road.

Wagner said $600 worth of tools was taken from a truck bed.

A few miles away from that, at 112th and Davey Road, Wagner said a farmer found an abandoned truck in his field.

It was a 2004 Maroon Ford pick-up with no tires or rims, he said.

“We contacted the owner and discovered it was stolen from an auto body shop in Wahoo, it was stolen from there around 3:43 am,” Wagner said.

He said these crimes are likely related, as they all occurred Northeast of Lincoln and Waverly Sunday morning.

“We want to solicit anybody’s help,” Wagner said. “If you have information about the 2013 Ford White truck or any of the crimes call us at 402-441-6500.”

The Sheriff also said to lock your vehicles and remove all valuables even if you live in the country.

“These are opportunistic crimes,” Wagner said. “The bad guys are walking around trying car doors and if they’re unlocked they’ll commit the crime. You’ve got to have basic security measures in place.”
