Tuesday Evening Weather Update; December 15, 2020

Low level moisture, in the form of clouds, will be sticking around southeast Nebraska for another 24-hours.

Low level clouds/moisture is expected to hang around overnight.  In some cases the clouds may drop low enough to produce patchy fog and limited visibility.

With temperatures well below freezing, freezing fog will be a possibility Wednesday morning.  Watch out for potential ice on elevated surfaces.

Computer models suggest clouds will remain in place mainly below 1,500 feet for most of the morning and part of the afternoon.  How quickly the clouds give way to sunshine will have a big impact on high temperatures.  I’m currently going with highs in the middle to upper 20°s due to the clouds.  However, if the clouds give way by late morning/early afternoon, temperatures will likely top out in the low 30°s.

TONIGHT:  Mainly cloudy.  Patchy freezing fog/low clouds.  Lows in the single digits to 12°.

WEDNESDAY:  Mainly cloudy with skies turning partly sunny by afternoon.  Highs in the middle to upper 20°s.

THURSDAY:  Mostly sunny and “warmer.  Highs in the upper 30°s to near 40°.
