Turning up the summer heat in Nebraska
Typically, this is number of days that Lincoln will see 90° temperature reading each month on average.
This year, our first 90° day in 2025 came in late April which was also the hottest day of the year so far. Since then, we’ve had three more days get to 90 degrees.
We’ll attempt to match the hottest day of the year we’ve seen in Lincoln today (91° on April 28th), before likely our hottest day of the year gets beat tomorrow with a forecasted high in the middle 90s.
Widespread temperatures up around 90 degrees are expected for everyone in Nebraska. Hastings has yet to reach 90° this year. Good chance that first time comes today!
Thankfully, the humidity won’t come with the spike in temperatures just yet. It’s going to feel humid soon, though.
The next storm chance this week largely happens to the north of us all together, through northeast Nebraska by the late afternoon and evening hours with storms moving eastward.
There is a Marginal (Level 1 of 5) risk for a strong storm or two to produce some isolated hail as the main threat.
On Thursday, a cold front will mean another Marginal risk for severe weather with hail and damaging wind as the primary threats across western and central Nebraska.
After our hottest day of the week on Wednesday, we will stay near 90° the rest of the week with a lot more humidity starting Thursday.
Chances for storms across southeast Nebraska look rather small through Friday, but we’ll keep an eye on it.
