Two attacked with hammer in northeast Lincoln neighborhood, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man was arrested Monday night after an “unprovoked” hammer attack in northeast Lincoln, police say.

Around 10 p.m., two men were hit in the head “numerous times” with a hammer near 48th Street and Madison Avenue, according to LPD.

One of the men was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and the other victim was treated at the scene.

The suspected assailant, 42-year-old Demario Handy, was found in the area and taken into custody.

He was arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault and use of a weapon to commit a felony.
