Two cattle die when semi hits car in Norfolk

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Two cattle were killed Tuesday night in a crash in Norfolk.
Police said a semitrailer hit a car about 8 p.m. at 13th Street and Benjamin Avenue.
The semi tipped over in the crash, and the car was heavily damaged.
The driver of the car, a 31-year-old Norfolk man, was pinned inside at first, according to the Norfolk Police Division.
He was able to free himself and was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
Police ticketed the semi driver, a 25-year-old man from Minnesota, for running a red light.
He told officers that he did not want to brake hard because he was hauling a trailer full of cattle.
The trailer was carrying 32 “fat steers,” NPD said in a press release.
Two of them died in the crash, and the rest were transferred to another trailer.
Crews had to clean up spilled manure after the crash.
The road was closed for about four hours, police said.
