Two caught hauling 260 pounds of marijuana in Lincoln, deputies say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The sticker on the window said, “Baby on Board,” but deputies say drugs were the precious cargo in this van.

On Tuesday afternoon, deputies pulled over a van on Highway 77 near Old Cheney Road for speeding, driving on the shoulder and following too closely.

The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office said the driver and the passenger consented to a search of the vehicle.

Deputies discovered a homemade storage compartment in the back, according to the sheriff’s office.

It held 260 pounds of marijuana, over 500 THC vape pens and 10 ounces of THC wax.

“I think they were very confident that we would not find” the cargo hold, Chief Deputy Ben Houchin said.

The driver, 41-year-old Dorit Erenstein, and passenger, 5o-year-old Antonios Michalopoulos, were arrested on suspicion of intent to deliver marijuana.

They are both from California.

Houchin confirmed that there was no baby on board.
