Two caught with meth after traffic stop in northeast Nebraska, sheriff’s office says

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Two people were arrested Sunday night after meth was found during a traffic stop in rural Stanton County, the sheriff’s office says.

Around 7 p.m., deputies received a report of an “erratic driver” on Highway 15, just south of Pilger.

Shortly after, the vehicle was seen “committing several traffic violations,” and deputies pulled it over on Highway 275 near Pilger, according to the sheriff’s office.

The passenger, 45-year-old Johnathan Bauer, had an active arrest warrant in Madison County.  He was taken into custody and found to have meth, the sheriff’s office said.

The driver, 61-year-old Cheri Thornton, was caught with a “significant” amount of pre-packaged meth, according to the sheriff’s office.

Investigators later learned that Thornton sold drugs to “supplement her retirement income,” authorities said.

Both were arrested on suspicion of felony drug charges.
