LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A pair pulled over in Lincoln were sentenced in federal court Friday for trafficking methamphetamine.

Gerardo Soto-Sigala, 42, of Mexico will spend 6¼ years in prison.

U.S. District Judge Robert F. Rossiter Jr. sentenced 35-year-old Daisy Franco of California to five years and eight months.

The case began on May 9, 2023, when police pulled over a Honda Odyssey on Interstate 80 on the western edge of Lincoln.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office said Soto-Sigala, the driver, gave officers permission to search the vehicle.

They found a hidden compartment under the center console.

Inside were about 50 packages of meth weighing a total of 25.7 kilograms.

The meth was 98% pure, authorities said.

Rossiter also sentenced Soto-Sigala and Franco to post-prison supervised release.

Franco will serve four years, and Soto-Sigala will serve two.

There is no parole in the federal system.
