Two children killed in southern Nebraska crash

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Two children were killed Monday in a crash on a rural road near Hastings, the Adams County Sheriff’s Office says.
The crash happened around 4:45 p.m. at Saddlehorn Road and Riverview Avenue, just southeast of Hastings.
A pickup truck was heading east when it crashed into a northbound farm silage truck at the intersection, the sheriff’s office said.
Two children, ages 7 and 10, in the pickup truck were pronounced dead at the scene.
The two drivers were taken to the Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings.
Officials said it’s unknown if seat belts were in use at the time of the crash. Alcohol is not suspected to be a factor, according to the sheriff’s office.
An investigation is ongoing.
