Two deputies injured while minors flee Nance County party

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Nance County Sheriff’s Office issued more than 30 citations for minors in possession Friday night at a southwest Nance County party.

Deputies received a report of a large party taking place at an Airbnb rental property at 10:45 p.m.

The reporting party said several minors were drinking at the house with loud music.

When deputies arrived, they found over 100 people and over 20 cars on the property, according to officials.

Law enforcement said as soon as the partygoers saw the deputies, several of them fled on foot and into vehicles.

Deputies said they attempted to contain the partygoers, who started driving erratically trying to flee.

Eight cars ended up crashing into a ditch or getting stuck near the house, deputies said.

Officials said two Nance County Deputies suffered minor injuries after being struck by fleeing cars.

Deputies were able to stop several of the partygoers, who were all under 21 years of age.

Investigators said the property was rented out by an 18-year-old on the Airbnb app.

Graffiti on the walls and damage to the furniture and floors is estimated to be more than $3,000, investigators said.

Cars also damaged several headstones in a nearby cemetery while they were trying to flee, according to deputies.

Officials said they recovered hundreds of alcoholic drinks from the house.

Other charges are currently pending and the party is still under investigation.
