Two face deportation after Lincoln traffic stop yields credit card skimmer
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office announced Friday the arrest of two men after a traffic stop on Interstate 80 in Lincoln.
On Thursday, deputies pulled over the vehicle for tailgating near the exit to the Lincoln Airport, the sheriff’s office said.
The two occupants gave conflicting accounts as to where they were traveling, authorities said, and gave consent to search the vehicle.
Inside, deputies said they found a credit card skimmer and tools, several reloadable Visa credit cards, and a little over $17,000 in cash.
The driver, 56-year-old Mate Eross of New York City, and the passenger, 43-year-old Franklin Gualtiere-Delgado of Florida, were both taken to the Lancaster County Jail.
They were arrested on suspicion of felony unlawful possession of a skimming device, and authorities said they are also in the country illegally.
“This was a good stop,” Chief Deputy Ben Houchin said. “I am very proud of the individuals, deputies and LPD officers that were working on this case.”
Immigration and Customs Enforcement has been notified, and the two men are now facing deportation.
