Two found with meth after leading troopers on chase across Lincoln, patrol says

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Two people were arrested early Monday morning after troopers chased them across Lincoln, the Nebraska State Patrol says.

Around 1:10 a.m., the patrol was notified that a Dodge Caravan had sped off from a Lincoln Police officer during an attempted traffic stop.

Shortly after, a trooper spotted the Dodge, which was reportedly stolen, on Waverly Road near Highway 77, the patrol says.

The trooper tried pulling the van over, but the driver — 37-year-old Robert Allen of York — continued south on Highway 77.

When Allen turned onto Fletcher Avenue, a trooper tried using his patrol car to stop the Dodge.

But Allen was able to regain control of the van and, while driving off, struck another trooper’s car, according to the patrol.

He then got back onto Highway 77 before getting on Havelock Avenue and turning north on 70th Street.

Eventually, a trooper was able to stop Allen with his patrol car at the intersection of 70th Street and Burlington Avenue.

Allen and the passenger, 27-year-old Angel Hauschild of Shelton, were then taken into custody.

Allen was arrested on suspicion of willful reckless driving, assault on a peace officer, flight to avoid arrest, possession of meth and several other charges.

Hauschild, who had an outstanding warrant, was arrested on suspicion of possessing meth.

No one was injured during the pursuit, which lasted about 10 minutes, according to the patrol.
