UPDATE: Two in custody for Taco John’s vandalism

UPDATE:
On Monday, two teens were arrested for breaking into and vandalizing a northeast Lincoln Taco Johns.
Lincoln police said on Sunday morning, the suspects smashed the front door of the fast food restaurant on 84th and Leighton Ave. They then broke TVs, cash registers and surveillance cameras.
“The only reason they were there was to get revenge on Taco John’s and me for what they considered wrongful termination of one of their employees,” said store owner Mark Titchener.
Titchener said he wasn’t surprised to find out one of the suspects is a former employee he terminated for theft 6 weeks ago.
“I had terminated the employee and then had received threatening texts a couple weeks after he was terminated that he was going to do something,” Titchener said. “And so it was pretty easy for, I think, the police to find out too.”
Titchener said they’re still tallying up the damage loss, but estimated it’s around $5,000-$6,000.
He said that’s not all.
“Lost earnings, probably we were down 50 percent on Sunday from a year ago and 50 percent today from a year ago,” he said.
But he said he’s happy with the way police handled it.
They’re still trying to find out who the third suspect is.
Titchener said they were able to reopen the drive thru on Sunday, their lobby reopened Monday evening and that Taco Tuesday is still on.
