Two killed in crash with semi on highway near Wahoo

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Two women were killed Wednesday in a crash with a semitrailer in Saunders County.

The two-vehicle crash happened around 2:20 p.m. at Highway 77 and Road 16, just northeast of Wahoo.

A Chevy Equinox was going north when the driver failed to yield, according to the Nebraska State Patrol.

The patrol said the Chevy was struck by an eastbound semi at the intersection.

The Chevy’s driver, 82-year-old Lucretia Griffen of Ames, and the passenger, 71-year-old Nancy Page of Fremont, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the semi was not injured, the patrol said.

An investigation is ongoing.
