Two killed in crash with train in west-central Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Two people from Kearney were killed Friday morning when their SUV was hit by a train in west-central Nebraska.
Just before 8:30 a.m., first responders were sent to the train tracks at the intersection of Road 427 and Highway 30, between Lexington and Cozad.
When deputies with the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office arrived, they found a white Buick Enclave in the ditch with serious damage.
According to the sheriff’s office, 73-year-old Scott Maline and 71-year-old Kathy Maline died at the scene.
Authorities said both were using seat belts.
Investigators said the Malines were driving north on Road 427 when they drove across the tracks.
The vehicle was hit by a westbound train.
According to the sheriff’s office, there were no mechanical arms at the crossing.
