LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Two men stole a deep freezer full of beef from a Lincoln County home on Monday, the sheriff’s office says.

Around 8:45 p.m., a woman arrived at her home near Maxwell and saw a pickup truck leaving with her deep freezer.

Deputies searched the property and found that someone had also stolen several tools and a Ford Crown Victoria.

The next day, deputies found the Ford abandoned near a park in North Platte.

On Wednesday, authorities arrested Rick Reeves, 54, and Joedy Brummels, 62, on suspicion of burglary and theft by unlawful taking, the sheriff’s office said.

Shortly after, deputies served a search warrant at Reeves’ North Platte home and found the stolen freezer plugged in outside.

Additional stolen items and two rifles were also found at the home.  Reeves is a convicted felon and is banned from owning guns.

Due to the “extensive amount of suspected stolen property,” deputies continued the search of Reeves’ home on Thursday, the sheriff’s office said.

On the second day of searching, deputies seized “several” truckloads of property, meth and drug paraphernalia.

Deputies are still searching for a third suspect, 36-year-old Matthew Reeves, in connection with the thefts.

An investigation is ongoing, and additional charges are pending.
