Car Theft

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Lincoln Police Department arrested 27-year-old Gabriel Kuhfahl and 32-year-old Jordon Russell in connection to multiple car thefts throughout Lincoln.

Around 7:30 am on January 6th, a 64-year-old victim reported that his blue Chevy Silverado had been stolen from inside his garage in the 1700 block of North 80th Street.  According to the victim, the garage door was open overnight and the keys were left inside the truck.

On January 9th at 7:00 am, officers spotted the stolen vehicle parked and running in an alley near 10th and Park Street.  Kuhfahl was later identified as the party sitting in the driver’s seat.

As officers approached the vehicle on foot giving Kuhfahl orders to exit, he quickly accelerated from the area.

While fleeing, he struck a residence, causing approximately $3,000 worth of damage.  Kuhfahl continued to flee the area at a high rate of speed.

Though officers were unable to pursue him, they obtained information indicating he was involved in several other vehicle thefts in Lincoln.

On January 11th, around 9:45 am, officers received a report of a suspicious vehicle in the same area the stollen truck was seen.

Officers saw Kuhfahl and Russell walking in the area, in an attempt to contact the two for prior vehicle thefts but both ran on foot.  Officers eventually placed both males under arrest.

Kuhfahl was found to be in possession of the key to the stolen Chevy Silverado, along with several other vehicle keys and a tool commonly used to bypass vehicle locks.

Two other previously stolen vehicles, a white GMC Yukon and a black Honda Accord were found parked in a lot near the area.

Kuhfahl was arrested for Theft by Receiving (felony), Operating a Motor Vehicle to Avoid Arrest, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, Willful Reckless Driving, Resisting Arrest, Possession of Burglar’s Tools, and an outstanding arrest warrant.

LPD expects that additional charges will follow in the coming days for other vehicle thefts Kuhfahl was involved in.

Russell was arrested for three outstanding warrants.
